Our verdict
Qallak suits adults in Addis Ababa and the Ethiopian diaspora who want casual dating and dislike paying to test a service, because matching, chat, debates and Buna tables are free forever. Paid tiers start at ETB 99 a month on a monthly auto-renew, and cancellation happens in app settings.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Matching, chat, debates and Buna tables stay free forever (Matching, chat, debates and Buna tables free forever), so the core of the site costs nothing to try before you pay anything.
- Verified profiles are a named feature here (verified profiles), and the badge comes from Live selfie check plus face match; verified badge, which is a real check rather than a self declaration.
- The paid entry point is ETB 99 a month and the whole ladder is Free, Light 99, Gold 199, Premium 349 ETB/month, so the cost of upgrading is clear before you sign up.
- Verified profiles put Qallak in the smaller group: 29.7% of sites in this category offer them, so the badge carries more weight here than on a site that hands it out automatically.
Cons
- The audience is Ethiopian youth 18+, Addis Ababa and diaspora, so anyone outside Ethiopia and the diaspora is looking at a much smaller pool.
- Support runs on email, help centre and community, with no phone line named, so a billing question that needs a person can take longer to sort.
- Monthly auto-renew, cancel in app settings means renewal is automatic, and a paid tier left in place keeps billing every month.
- The privacy terms keep logs for a period after deletion, so scrubbing a profile does not remove every trace you left behind.
Who it suits
- Adults based in Addis Ababa who want casual dating and can meet the people they match with in person.
- Members of the Ethiopian diaspora who want the same audience and ETB pricing while living abroad.
- Anyone comparing casual sites and willing to live on a free tier for a while before paying.
Who should look elsewhere
- Not for adults after a broad international market: Findom.com prices its monthly plans at $0.09, so it is worth a look if Qallak's audience feels too narrow.
- Not for readers wanting an older crowd: Senior.dk Dating is the more mature-audience option here, with monthly plans at DKK 2.30.
- Not for readers after a kink or BDSM niche: BDSM-baari lists monthly plans €0.83 to €2.50, while Qallak names casual as its niche.
Members and plans
Qallak is not a general audience site. The audience is Ethiopian youth 18+, Addis Ababa and diaspora, and that focus shapes every match you see: in Addis Ababa or in the diaspora, the people around you already share that background, which cuts the work of filtering. Plans match the same local picture. Free, Light 99, Gold 199, Premium 349 ETB/month, so the ladder starts at a free tier and steps up in Ethiopian birr, in the currency you would actually be charged in. If you sit outside that audience, the mix is thinner here and you may wait longer before a good conversation starts.
Billing and cancelling
Two things are worth checking before you pay: what happens to your data, and how hard it is to stop paying. On data, the privacy terms say No data sold; delete scrubs profile, logs 30 days. Nothing is sold, and deletion scrubs the profile rather than leaving it dormant, though logs do not vanish with it and are kept for a period. On billing, Monthly auto-renew, cancel in app settings. Renewal is automatic, so a paid tier does not quietly lapse, and stopping it happens inside app settings, which is where the terms point you. The practical habit is to cancel in settings the week a tier stops earning its price.
What is free and what costs
The free side covers more of the daily loop than most casual sites. Matching, chat, debates and Buna tables free forever, so the parts that tell you whether the service suits you cost nothing. The paid ladder runs from ETB 99 a month, and the full set of plans is Free, Light 99, Gold 199, Premium 349 ETB/month, with tiers named Light, Gold and Premium in ETB a month. For anyone counting cost, the sensible order is to use the free tier properly first, then treat the paid plans as a monthly add-on rather than an entry fee you have to pay to get started.

Frequently asked questions
What does Qallak cost a month?+
The paid ladder starts at ETB 99 a month, and the full set of plans is Free, Light 99, Gold 199, Premium 349 ETB/month. Those prices are quoted in ETB, so readers outside Ethiopia should expect a conversion before comparing them with sites priced in other currencies. The free tier is what most people try first.
What can I do on Qallak without paying?+
More than most casual sites: Matching, chat, debates and Buna tables free forever. In practice you can match, message, join debates and take part in Buna tables without touching a paid plan, which makes it easy to judge the service first. The paid tiers sit on top of that free base rather than unlocking the basics.
How do I cancel a Qallak paid plan?+
The terms answer this directly: Monthly auto-renew, cancel in app settings. Because renewal is automatic each month, a tier you simply forget about keeps billing, and turning it off happens inside app settings. Cancelling there as soon as you decide the tier is not worth its monthly price keeps the decision in your hands.
What happens to my data if I delete my Qallak account?+
The privacy terms say No data sold; delete scrubs profile, logs 30 days. Your data is not sold, and asking for deletion scrubs the profile rather than leaving it quietly hidden, so the removal is real. Logs are kept for a period after that, which means deletion is thorough for the profile but not the same as instant erasure of every record.
Who is Qallak built for?+
The audience is Ethiopian youth 18+, Addis Ababa and diaspora, and that focus is the point of the site. People you match with already share that background, so less filtering is needed. If you are looking for a broad international pool instead, the mix here is narrow, and a site with a wider reach will serve you better.
Does Qallak verify that profiles are real?+
Verified profiles are a named feature (verified profiles) and the check behind the badge is Live selfie check plus face match; verified badge. Only 29.7% of sites in this category offer verified profiles, so the badge tells you more here than it would on a service that issues it automatically.
How do I reach Qallak support?+
Support runs on email, help centre and community. Email and a help centre handle most questions, and the community channel gives you a public route where you can read other members' answers. No phone line is named, so email and the help centre are the realistic first stops, especially for anything billing related.
Is Qallak a free site or a subscription site?+
It is free with paid tiers layered on top. Free-model services account for 16.7% of this category, so a free core is not unusual, and what separates Qallak is how much of it stays free. Read Matching, chat, debates and Buna tables free forever before deciding a paid plan is needed.
