Our verdict
Substy suits adults who want free content before they pay anything, and it adds pay-per-view messages and creator subscriptions for those who choose to pay. Subscriptions run $0 to $99, and the site ranks the brand at the top of 19 on subscription price, so the free tier is the cheapest way in.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Free content is available, so browsing costs nothing before any commitment.
- Pay-per-view messages give a paid route that is not tied to a recurring fee.
- Subscriptions run $0 to $99, a range that opens at no cost.
- The cost part of the score is 10 against an overall 10.
- The rank on subscription price is 1 out of 19.
Cons
- The only support channel listed is help centre, so payment or billing questions stop there.
- The top of $0 to $99 runs above the whole Fanhouse band, $1.99 to $25, so the costliest creators charge more.
- Pricing covers free and subscription, so a free option exists but the amount a reader pays is set by each creator.
Who it suits
- Adults who want free content to open and a subscription only if they choose one.
- Readers who would rather pay for a single message than commit to a monthly fee.
Who should look elsewhere
- Not for readers who want a tight subscription band: Fanhouse runs $1.99 to $25, a narrower range than $0 to $99.
- Not for readers who want prices outside dollars: Privacy lists BRL 14.90 to BRL 200.
Pricing and free tier
Free content is available on Substy, so a reader can look before paying anything and a subscription is optional rather than the only way in. Paid creator subscriptions run $0 to $99, a range that opens at no cost and stretches a long way above the cheapest paid tiers. Both ends of that range matter for anyone weighing cost. The free end decides who gets to browse at all, and the upper end decides what a committed fan pays for a regular feed. A reader who only wants to look pays nothing, while a reader who wants ongoing access picks a price point from a wide spread rather than a single tier.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Substy subscription cost?+
Creator subscriptions run $0 to $99, and the pricing page lists both free and subscription plans, so the range opens at no cost. Pay-per-view messages are available as a separate paid route. A reader who only browses free content pays nothing, while a paying reader's figure depends on the creator chosen.
Is there free content on Substy?+
Free content is available, and free is a model listed in free and subscription next to subscription. The free tier sits on the pricing page itself rather than behind a separate trial. About 85.1% of the platforms in this comparison offer free content, so it is a common feature rather than a rare one.
How does the price compare with Fanhouse and Fantia?+
Substy subscriptions run $0 to $99 in dollars. Fanhouse runs $1.99 to $25, a band that sits inside Substy's range, while Fantia is priced in yen at ¥100 to ¥10,000. The currencies differ, so the figures are not directly comparable.
What support is available on Substy?+
The only support channel listed is help centre. Across ranked fan-sites brands, email appears on 78.9% of listings, chat on 28.1% and phone on 21.1%, so a help centre alone is the narrower setup.
How is Substy scored?+
The cost part of the score is 10 and the overall score is 10. The rank on subscription price is 1 out of 19. Cost is the part that can be checked against published figures, since the free content fact and the price range are both stated.
Which other platforms are listed as alternatives?+
There are 3 alternatives listed: Fantia at ¥100 to ¥10,000, Fanhouse at $1.99 to $25 and Privacy at BRL 14.90 to BRL 200. Each is priced in its own currency, so the figures do not translate directly and the bands differ in width.
Do I have to subscribe to message a creator?+
Pay-per-view messages are available, so a single message can be paid for without taking out a subscription. Substy lists free and subscription on its pricing page, which places a free route and a subscription route beside that paid message. Support for either route runs through help centre.
