AI Companions: Pricing and Free Tiers

Free chat is standard across AI companions, so the price that decides the bill is the one attached to messages, tokens and media after the free allowance is spent.

Start with what the free tier actually allows

Free access is the norm here, and it comes in a few shapes. AI Angels hands over unlimited free text messages with no card needed, and Candy.ai opens with free chat capped by a message limit. Backyard AI publishes a free message allowance beside its paid plans, while CherryPop AI lets you start free and drops signup coins into the account.

Other brands frame the free part differently. AIAllure offers both a free trial and a free account. Chai AI runs a free ad-supported tier alongside paid Premium and Ultra tiers. ChaChat is free to download with a paid PRO option. ChatVika pairs free chat with gift credits, and AIGirlfriends.ai gives a free chat account where a paid plan is what adds tokens.

The thin end is sign-up only. AI Girlfriend offers free account signup, AI Podruga opens with a free chat start, and Botify AI limits free messages to basic characters.

Two offers matter for a reader shopping in a particular language. Baibu gives free chat in Indonesian and local languages, and Baratnoim.hu hands out free coins on registration. Read the AI girlfriends and AI sex chat rankings first, then open the AI Angels review or the AI Girlfriend review to see what a free tier feels like in ordinary use.

Charge model: allowances, credits or tokens

Three styles cover most of these apps. Backyard AI uses a message allowance with no credits at all, which keeps the arithmetic simple. AIGirlfriends.ai includes a monthly token allocation that refills on its own, and AIAllure folds a token allocation into its plans.

A second group buys its extras by a named unit. Candy.ai runs token-based extras on top of a subscription, Chai AI sells an in-app currency called pieces in packs, and ChatVika uses credits, called xu, with a top-up option. Character.AI works through charms. CherryPop AI runs a Cherry Coins credit system.

A third group meters the heavier actions. AI Angels funds photos, calls and video from a credits balance, and Botify AI spends energy coins on each media action. Baratnoim.hu spends coin credits per message, and Baibu issues points for contributions that redeem against rewards.

That split decides which bill you get. A reader who mostly types pays least on a message allowance, while photo, voice and video work pushes the bill toward credits. Put the Backyard AI review next to the Botify AI review if your time goes into media.

Monthly price, brand by brand

Monthly figures are the easiest line to compare. AI Angels charges $14.99 a month. AIGirlfriends.ai charges $12.99, AIAllure charges $29.90, and Chai AI charges $13.99. Botify AI charges $19.99 and CherryPop AI charges $19.99.

Further up the range sit ChaChat at $24.99 a month and Backyard AI at $35.

One brand publishes no single monthly figure. Anima sells several tiers, and its monthly price runs $7.99 to $39.99 across them, so treat the span as the real cost range rather than picking a number in the middle.

Yearly billing is not automatically the cheaper route

Where a yearly figure is published, put it beside the monthly one and judge for yourself. AIAllure lists $16.40 a year against $29.90 a month. AIGirlfriends.ai lists $5.91 a year against $12.99 a month, and Chai AI lists $11.25 a year against $13.99 a month.

ChaChat is the case to watch, since its yearly figure of $34.99 sits above its monthly figure of $24.99. A longer term does not always lower the bill, so read the term, not the label.

Botify AI publishes a yearly span of $29.99 to $79.99 rather than a single number. A span means several tiers are on sale, so compare the whole span against the use you expect before you commit to a term.

A short method for comparing

Work through four checks in order. Start with the free tier, because it sets the floor for cost while you decide. Then name the unit you are buying: messages, tokens, credits, coins or charms. Next compare the monthly and yearly figures on the same brand, since the pair can move in either direction. Last, check whether a range is published, because a range means the gap between the cheapest and fullest tier can be wide.

Run that order against the AIAllure review, the AIGirlfriends.ai review and the Baratnoim.hu review before you pay anything.

Before a billing term starts

Billing names differ by brand, and the name on the receipt tells you what you bought. ChaChat sells a paid PRO option, Chai AI sells Premium and Ultra tiers, and ChatVika sells a credit top-up on top of its gift credits. Baibu converts points into rewards rather than selling them outright.

Two habits protect the budget. Set a reminder before a paid term renews, and ask the brand about cancellation terms before the opening payment lands. Both steps are worth taking whether you start on the free tier or move straight to a plan.
