Pros and cons
Pros
- The content policy is unfiltered adult chat, images and video, with no filter layer to work around (No-filter adult chat, images, video; 18+ only).
- Voice, image generation and video generation are all available, and voice and roleplay are the named upgrade features (voice and roleplay).
- Entry is light: Daily free Gems; a few chat messages; no card, so a first session needs no card and no spend.
- Character personas cover female, male and anime, so the same account reaches several character types (female, male and anime).
- Both free and premium models serve the chat, so the upgrade changes the model rather than the whole service (free and premium).
Cons
- Character history clears when you switch modes, so a mode change resets the thread (Character memory; history clears on mode switch).
- Age gating rests on the terms, which set a minimum age and leave verification to the reader (18+ required by terms; no ID check stated).
- Support runs on email, help centre and community only, and a phone line is not among them.
- Monthly fees of $14.99 sit above the €13.15 typical of this category.
Who it suits
- Adults who want unfiltered adult chat with images and video in the same place (No-filter adult chat, images, video; 18+ only).
- Readers who want to test a companion before paying, since Daily free Gems; a few chat messages; no card needs no card.
- Anyone who wants a browser plus phone apps, since the service runs on web, iOS and Android.
Who should look elsewhere
- Readers chasing the lowest monthly figure, since Dippy AI runs $4.99 to $12.99 against $14.99 here.
- Readers who only want to browse, since Xtease offers Free signup and browsing, no card needed and Promptchan meters voice and calls in Gems (Gems are credits; voice msg 1 Gem, call 2 Gems).
- Readers who want a phone line for support, since support runs on email, help centre and community while 10.1% of the brands compared here list one.
Using the service
Promptchan is chat first: you open a conversation, then take the same character into pictures or video. Voice is available too, so a session can be typed, heard or watched without leaving the character. The service runs on web, iOS and Android, covering a browser alongside iOS and Android apps, so the same account works across desk and phone. On continuity, the character holds a memory of the exchange, and history clears on a mode switch, so changing mode is a clean break rather than a carried thread. That is the main habit to plan around: pick the mode you want to stay in.
Memory, voice and media
Memory belongs to the character here, not to a separate profile setting, and history clears when you switch modes. A new mode therefore returns the same character with a blank thread, which is predictable but loses the run of a conversation. Voice is available, so replies can be heard as well as read, and that suits readers who want a companion to talk to rather than only to type at. Image generation and video generation both work, which places text, pictures, sound and video with the same character instead of in separate tools. For readers who care most about continuity, the mode switch is the detail to weigh before settling.
What is free and what costs
Monthly fees are $14.99. Entry does not require a card: Daily free Gems; a few chat messages; no card covers daily free Gems and a few chat messages, so early sessions cost nothing. Paid features then move onto Gems, which are the credit unit. Gems are credits; voice msg 1 Gem, call 2 Gems sets the Gem cost of a voice message and of a call, so a voice heavy month costs more than the plan on its own. The billing picture is plan plus Gems, and Gems are the part that scales with how much you use voice and calls.

Frequently asked questions
How much is Promptchan per month?+
The monthly plan is priced at $14.99. Voice messages and calls are metered separately in Gems, the credit unit, so voice use adds spend on top of the plan. Both free and premium models sit behind the same chat, and voice and roleplay are the named upgrade features (Gems are credits; voice msg 1 Gem, call 2 Gems, free and premium).
What do I get without paying?+
Daily free Gems; a few chat messages; no card covers daily free Gems, a few chat messages and no card needed. Voice messages and calls draw Gems as well, so the free allowance covers text chat rather than voice (Gems are credits; voice msg 1 Gem, call 2 Gems).
How does Promptchan handle age and adult content?+
The content policy is unfiltered adult chat, images and video, aimed at adults only (No-filter adult chat, images, video; 18+ only). The terms set a minimum age, and age gating rests on the reader's own declaration, since the terms state that no identity document is requested (18+ required by terms; no ID check stated).
What happens to the data I share?+
The privacy policy says data is retained as needed, gives erasure rights and states nothing about model training (Retained as needed; erasure rights; no training stated). The operator behind the service is VisionAI Labs Limited, registered in Ireland, so there is a named company to approach if you want a record erased.
Can I use Promptchan on my phone?+
The service runs on web, iOS and Android, so a phone app and a browser both work and the same account carries across devices. Personas cover female, male and anime, so one account reaches female, male and anime characters rather than a single type.
Will the character remember me in a later session?+
Memory is character based, so a character keeps its own sense of the exchange. The catch is that history clears when you switch modes, so changing mode resets the thread rather than carrying it across (Character memory; history clears on mode switch). Both free and premium models are offered (free and premium).
Can I make images and video with a character?+
Image generation and video generation are both available, and voice is available too, so a character can be chatted with, heard and pictured. Voice and roleplay are the named upgrade features, so the media work sits alongside the paid side (voice and roleplay).
How do I get help if a Gem charge looks wrong?+
Support runs on email, help centre and community, covering email, a help centre and community threads, and a phone line is not among them. Billing questions about Gems are therefore handled in writing, and the operator is VisionAI Labs Limited in Ireland, so a written record is possible.
